St. Patty's Day Party

We planned a St Patrick's Day party for 60-70 people. We wanted the informal atmosphere of a pub with music and food. We didn't want to cater the party in the conventional sense so we decided a food truck on site would meet our objective. Then it was a matter of which style of food truck food would best suit our pub theme. A friend recommended Soul Kitchen food truck. I called David and discussed our pub food idea. David said he would send us some menu options along with a quote. We very quickly received an email with our options including costs. We decided to provide our guests with the option of a smoked beef brisket sandwich or smoked chicken and St Louis ribs. There was also side dishes of coleslaw, mac and cheese, bacon hush puppies and collard greens. We decided to have the truck there from 7-10 PM. David and Jon arrived, were set up  and serving at 7. Our guests started ordering immediately. David and Jon had their system down pat and no one had to wait long. They stayed until 10:30 to be sure no one missed out. Everyone raved about the food. The food truck idea at a party was different and lots of fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Soul Kitchen to anyone. There food is great, their approach is fun yet professional, and their prices are reasonable. Thanks David and Jon.

Soul Kitchen BBQ - Outstanding Wedding Catering.

Soul Kitchen BBQ catered our wedding of approximately 100 people in December 2015 and did an amazing job. The food is such an important part of a wedding and Dave and Jon at Soul Kitchen BBQ absolutely nailed it. They made the whole process extremely easy and took a ton of pressure off of us during an already very busy time.

First and foremost, the food was excellent and a big hit amongst our guests. We still get compliments to this day from people who remember how delicious the food was. Their southern BBQ themed menu was a welcome change of style compared to your traditional wedding entrée's. This was southern comfort food at its finest; we had so much variety that even our pickiest eaters found a dish they loved. From the smoker we had a combination of ribs, pulled pork, smoked brisket and chicken wings! Everything from the grill and smoker was cooked perfectly and flavor in the meats were incredible. Our favourite was the smoked brisket, which had a peppery char on the outside, yet was tender and full of juicy flavour on the inside. They also provided an array of sauces to go with the BBQ'ed meats. Some sides included mac n'cheese, corn bread, collard greens and potato salad, which rounded out the meal nicely and gave people options as to what side they wanted with their meat.

Secondly, I'd like to point out that their service, knowledge and experience was excellent. During the planning stages they had answers to all of our questions and always provided us with several options that suited our needs from both a food & service and cost perspective. Their understanding of quantities or food, servers, beverages, etc was right on point. The food and drink was served promptly which kept people happy and entertained and there were just enough leftovers to feed our family that we had staying with us during the wedding. Admittedly, we didn't know much about how/what type of beverages we should pair with our meal so we leaned on Dave and Jon for their input. They provided us with several samples to choose from that would work best with our meals and the feedback was all very positive. Even the few "wine snob" guests we had were impressed. Having their food truck parked out front was a cool touch as well.

Lastly, their commitment to making our wedding reception a success was more than we could ask for. These guys worked tirelessly prepping, serving and helping with the cleanup. Our wedding ran until about 1:30am on a Saturday night and we had to be out of the venue by 9am that same morning. Dave and Jon were working when everyone left and came back first thing in the morning to help pack and clean everything up.

We would absolutely use Soul Kitchen BBQ to cater another event for us in the future and highly recommend their services to anyone hosting a wedding, reunion, social-gathering, etc.

Soul Kitchen Wedding Catering

Soul Kitchen BBQ Co. catered our wedding, September 2015.  My wife and I weren't planning on having a BBQ wedding but after trying Soul Kitchen's food we inquired if they were able to cook food outside of the BBQ box. It became apparent after a short discussion that these two guys have been fully trained in the culinary world and were totally ok to do a dinner menu outside of a BBQ theme while keeping that for the midnight snack. The food was unbelievable. Appetizers included saphron arancini balls and caprese salad. The entrée was Chinook salmon, smoked porchetta and beef striploin all cooked up in one small food truck! Our friends and family still talk about the smoked pork poutine and smoked brisket put out for the midnight snack. The event surpassed even our expectations, and we wouldn’t change a thing about the food or the day in general. They even handled the alcohol and rentals for the event. We never had to worry about a thing. I would highly recommend Soul Kitchen for any event no matter the size or circumstance. These two will go above and beyond to make your event special!! I can’t say enough good things or begin to express how happy we were with the food and service quality on our special day!
